Mother’s Day for St. Anne’s Place - Nancy Larson

Many of us at RPUCC are familiar with St. Anne’s Place and our giving donations to them. For those newer to the church, I would like you to know too. St. Anne’s Place is an emergency family shelter that supports women-led families as they work to stabilize and break the cycle of crisis and homelessness. Operating in North Minneapolis, St. Anne’s Place serves nearly 120 mothers and more than 200 children each year. St. Anne’s Place is now associated with People Serving People based in downtown Minneapolis. This is working out very well with their program.

At St. Anne’s Place, mothers and children are safe, supported and empowered. St. Anne’s Place is more than a shelter, it is a home. Our program provides private family bedrooms, shared bathrooms, meals, clothing, children’s school supplies, basic necessities and more for up to 16 families. Through our service and support, residents begin to overcome the lasting effects of trauma, create stability, gain independence, and envision a future full of help.

Now let’s help to make May 11 a Happy Mother’s Day at St. Anne’s Place! For the past 17 years, we have donated gifts for the children to give their moms on that special day. Any extra gifts will be passed out for birthdays, etc. during the year. The director has asked for some very specific BRAND name items. These items can be found at Target and Walmart:

Please No Hair Products E0S lotion TREE HUT body spray shimmer mist TREE HUT lip gloss /butter Necklaces Small boxes of chocolate

Purse-wallet Gift Cards

All gifts must be at church by Sunday, May 4. Look for the decorated box in the hallway by the office to put them in. You can also call Nancy Larson at 763-226-1014 to arrange for pickup. All of us at RPUCC should feel blessed to have found this niche ministry in our midst and I know St. Anne’s Place feels blessed to have us as friends! Happy Mother’s Day!
